DESCRIPTION:On the 31 May 2011\, I gave a talk to the information theory g
 roup explaining what was known about the entropy of the sum of discrete ra
 ndom variables and giving examples for which knowing bounds on this entrop
 y would be useful. A lot has happened since\, in particular through one pa
 per by Jog and Anantharam published on arXiv and of which a short version 
 will be presented at ISIT 2013. I will review what I told you in 2011 and 
 give you a summary of the results in their ISIT paper\, as well as discuss
  the remaining open problems that I believe are solvable within the next f
 ew years.
