DESCRIPTION:The amount of data we need to deal with in the modern world is
  growing rapidly as an increasing number of people become connected and ar
 e able to produce and publish content. Access to raw data is also easier t
 han ever but it is becoming increasingly challenging for providers to serv
 e useful information to their customers. In the early days of the web it w
 as relatively straightforward to aggregate and present everything that was
  out there\, with ranking and prioritisation of the most useful results co
 ming shortly thereafter. It is now becoming clear that this is not enough 
 and personalisation of the web experience is pursued as one possible way o
 f coping. The notion of a ‘signed in’ experience\, tailored to your pe
 rsonal needs\, is becoming the focus of many digital companies including t
 he most powerful Silicon Valley players. This talk aims to analyse the pro
 blem\, the state-of-the-art solutions and the involved challenges includin
 g privacy and trust concerns of the public.
