DESCRIPTION:We let C be a reduced and irreducible curve with locally plana
 r singularities\, and we consider its Hilbert schemes of points C^[n]. On 
 the homology groups of these Hilbert schemes we will describe an action of
  a certain Heisenberg algebra\, similar to the action constructed by Grojn
 owski and Nakajima for Hilbert schemes of smooth surfaces.\n\nAs a corolla
 ry to the existence of this action we can express the homology groups of C
 ^[n] in terms of the homology of the compactified Jacobian of C. This reco
 vers and slightly strenghtens a formula recently obtained in a different w
 ay by Maulik and Yun and independently Migliorini and Shende.
