 on the structure of 2+1 dimensional conformal field theories placed in a p
 eriodic chemical potential with amplitude V and wavevector k. General argu
 ments are presented that the infrared limit is described by an emergent co
 nformal field theory whose universality class changes at an infinite discr
 ete set of values of V/k. Electrical transport properties are computed: th
 e holographic method captures some\, but not all\, of the expected structu
 re.\n
