DESCRIPTION:My research investigate how small ligands interact with protei
 n receptors and cell membranes\, using as model systems\, respectively\, t
 he interaction between general anaesthetic (GA) molecules and the gamma-bu
 tyric amino acid (GABA) type A receptor\, and that between GA and phosphol
 ipids. In this project\, I apply theoretical methods such as molecular mod
 elling and molecular dynamics\, and experimental methods such as neutron r
 eflectometry and Brewster angle microscopy\, to define the factors which c
 ontrol these ligand-receptor interactions.
