DESCRIPTION:*Abstract:*  What is the carrying capacity of our built envi
 ronment?  In 2006\, the Planning Department of the HKSAR Government starte
 d the “Urban Climatic Map and Standards for Wind Environment - Feasibili
 ty Study” hoping to address the question.  The project\, recently comple
 ted\, stated that in some urban districts\, we have already exceeded our c
 arry capacity. The study also established the data platform that planners 
 could refer to for better policy making from now on. The lecture walks the
  journey of the last six years of the research work.    \n\n*Biograph
 y:* Prof Edward Ng is an architect and the Professor of Architecture in th
 e School of Architecture\, the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  He comple
 ted his PhD at the Martin Centre of the University of Cambridge in 1992.  
 As an environmental consultant to the Hong Kong Government\, he developed 
 various design guidelines for architects\, planners and policy makers.   A
 mong many other honours\, he has twice been the recipient of the Internati
 onal Awards of the Royal Institute of British Architects.\n
