DESCRIPTION:Are we currently on a path to meet the Convention on Biologica
l Diversity 2020 “Aichi” Targets? What socio-economic and conservation
policies would be needed to achieve them? These are two important questio
ns that the forthcoming Global Biodiversity Outlook 4 is aiming to address
. In this talk I will synthesize the key findings of recent and on-going s
tudies on global biodiversity scenarios that are reviewed in GBO4\, inclu
ding my own work on projecting global biodiversity indicators. I will also
highlight recent advancements in ecological models applied to global biod
iversity scenarios and discuss the key differences between models and the
challenges ahead in making these models more robust and informative.
