DESCRIPTION:Droplet impact on aircraft surfaces at high altitude can lead
to ice forming on the leading edge of the aerofoil\, with potentially seri
ous aerodynamic consequences. In order to develop improved technology to
prevent ice accretion\, detailed understanding of the physical processes w
ithin the splash is required. A numerical model to deal with the behaviou
r of very high speed impact (around 100 m/s) is presented\, incorporating
the key physical features required to accurately model droplet splashing i
 n this regime.
