DESCRIPTION:Maybe you’ve got some nice research results\, insights\, tec
hnology or IP\, perhaps via a typical research council grant to get to thi
s stage. \n\nBut your work is not yet ready for commercialisation. Maybe
the next step is not ‘research enough’ for a conventional grant\, but
the work is too far from market for a commercial organisation to fund it?\
n\nWhat you need is ‘translational funding’ – to plug the gap betwee
n research and commercialisation.\n\nJulian Peck of Cambridge Enterprise w
ill be talking about Translational Funding on\n\nTuesday 26th November\, 1
 2:00 – 14:00 at Cambridge Enterprise\n\nLunch provided at 12:00 and proc
eedings start at 12:30\n\nPlaces will be limited\, so if you’d like to c
ome (and you’d like some lunch) then let me know to reserve your place.\
n\nThis event is part of the IfM Research Capability Development Prorgamme
and is run in partnership with (and funded by) the Fourth Theme of Engine
ering "Inspiring Research through Industrial Collaboration". \n\nSpeaker b
iography:\nJulian spent 17 years commercialising innovations in Newcastle
before joining Cambridge Enterprise. A graduate of the IfM (Institute for
Manufacturing) and a Chartered Mechanical Engineer\, he has considerable i
ndustrial and commercial experience\, mostly in the automotive and consume
r products sectors. He has also worked in the City in corporate finance.\n
\nJulian has real expertise in maximising the commercial returns from pate
nts and intellectual property\, especially through licensing and strategic
partnerships. He also has first-hand experience of setting up\, financing
  and running commercialisation companies.
