DESCRIPTION:Greatwall is a novel mitotic kinase that plays a crucial role
in regulating the Cdk counteracting phosphatase PP2A/B55. The precise fun
ctions and regulation of Greatwall kinase itself remains to be explored. I
n my seminar I will report on work in my laboratory on the phosphatases th
at counteract Greatwall activation. I will also discuss recent efforts in
the lab to develop Greatwall as a target in cancer therapy and present unp
ublished work on a collaboration with the Pearl lab to solve the structure
of this kinase and develop an in vitro screen to identify small molecule
 inhibitors of Greatwall.
