DESCRIPTION:The long-standing conjectures of the optimality of \nGaussian
inputs for Gaussian channel and Gaussian additivity are\nsolved for a broa
d class of covariant or contravariant Bosonic \nGaussian channels (which i
 ncludes in particular thermal\, additive \nclassical noise\, and ampli?er
channels) restricting to the class of \nstates with ?nite second moments.\
nWe show that the vacuum is the input state which minimizes the\nentropy a
t the output of such channels. This allows us to show \nalso that the clas
sical capacity of these channels (under the input \nenergy constraint) is
additive and is achieved by Gaussian \nencodings.\n\n
