DESCRIPTION:Profound local masking measured as a function of the position\
, disparity\, width and polarity of the mask reveals a structure of dispar
ity-specific masking that cannot be explained by the masking of its monocu
lar constituents. The masking effects can be modeled with three additive c
 omponents\, a polarity-independent one with a fixed disparity range\, a di
sparity center/surround one keyed to both disparity and mask polarity\, an
d one deriving from the monocular masking in each eye. Thus\, the disparit
y interaction behavior reveals extensive disparity domain connectivity tha
t needs to be taken into account by future models of disparity processing\
