DESCRIPTION:The focus of my research is the development of creative writer
s’ identities in the context of HE teaching and mentoring relationships.
The theoretical framework for this project draws on creativity theory and
conceptions of self and identity from the fields of philosophy\, psycholo
gy\, psychoanalysis and sociology. Phenomenological hermeneutics informs t
he epistemology and is reflected in the combined methodologies of narrativ
e inquiry and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Fieldwork is
underway and is producing rich data reflecting individuals’ sense of th
emselves as writers. This seminar is about work in progress. It will explo
re and invite discussion on current iterations of the theoretical framewor
k informed by ongoing reading and emerging data.
