DESCRIPTION:To fully understand the damage potential of fragments from bom
b and shell casings\, it is necessary to capture them in their in-flight c
ondition. This means they must be slowed from several times the speed of
sound without further break-up or distortion. A new compaction model for s
topping these high-velocity strips of metal in foamed or exfoliated materi
al has been developed and found to match experimental data.
