DESCRIPTION:This presentation will cover developments in the welding of al
 uminium\, titanium and nickel alloys for airframe and aircraft engine comp
 onents by arc\, laser\, electron beam and friction based processes. Laser 
 additive manufacture will also be covered in the talk\, along with techniq
 ues for the joining of composite materials\, and developments in non-destr
 uctive inspection. Finally a new development on the metallic coating of co
 mposite materials for lightning strike protection and thermal management w
 ill be shown.
