DESCRIPTION:This talk addresses the hydrodynamic limit of the Boltzmann eq
 uation\, namely\nthe compressible Euler equations of gas dynamics. An exac
 t summation of the\nChapman-Enskog expansion originally given by Gorban an
 d Karlin is the key to the\nanalysis. An appraisal of the role of viscosit
 y and capillarity in the limiting process is then\ngiven where the analogy
  is drawn to the limit of the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equations\nas a sm
 all parameter tends to zero.\n
