DESCRIPTION:The Joint Genome Institute (JGI) is a large scale sequencing a
 nd analysis facility focused on understanding environmental processes thro
 ugh genomics. I will present a series of metagenomic studies and the resul
 ting insights and discoveries that have been carried out at the Institute.
  These will range from the Neanderthal Genome\, microbes living in cow and
  sheep rumen and the discovery of novel genetic codes operating in nature.
