DESCRIPTION:Ocean gliders are increasingly being used to collect high reso
lution\, multidisciplinary oceanographic data\, and revealing processes th
at are occurring at scales smaller than those that satellite or shipborne
measurements would observe. They are able to collect this data in dangerou
s weather conditions and for a fraction of the cost that a shipboard missi
on would be. Seagliders are used at the University of East Anglia\, and de
ployment locations have included Ross Sea\, Weddell Sea and Amundsen Sea a
round Antarctica. I will talk about some of the missions that UEA have bee
n involved in around Antarctica\, the lessons learned and potential future
  developments.
