DESCRIPTION:This single-day curated conference\, following on from the fir
st performance-as-paradigm conference in April 2013\, explores the politic
s of acts of creativity and their consumption. Framing and staging have hi
storically been powerful ways to negotiate collectivity\, both metaphorica
lly and in practice. This conference looks at ways in which performance is
less about objects than the power of frames.\n\nQuestions addressed will
include:\n\nHow do groups – both hegemonic and counter-hegemonic - imagi
ne and perform themselves politically?\nCan something be performance witho
ut assuming a collective reception\, and vice versa?\nIn cultures that pri
vilege the individual\, how can systems be made visible?\nHow do artworks
deal with their situation of complicity with the political relations they
seek to critique?\nHow does creative behaviour interact with its various e
conomic frames? \nHow does performance subvert prevalent notions of ‘the
work’?\nHow do live and recorded performances respectively frame intera
ction between participants of all kinds?\n\nIn this interdisciplinary conv
ersation\, we take the paradigm of performance as a mode of enhancing cult
 ural critique.
