DESCRIPTION:This November Cambridge Network is examining innovation from t
wo different perspectives\; from the Judge Business School's Prof Jaideep
Prabhu talking about 'frugal innovation' or the ability to do more with le
ss\, to the Innovation Forum talking about collaborations between industry
\, academia and the public sector. \n\nFor November's Business Lecture Cam
bridge Network is focussing on two different aspects of innovation with sp
eakers including Prof Jaideep Prabhu from the Judge Business School\, and
the newly formed Innovation Forum\, a student-led body from the University
of Cambridge.\n\nSpeakers:\n\nProf Jaideep Prabhu\, Nehru Professor of In
dian Business at the Judge Business School: Prof Prabhu has studied innov
ation throughout his academic career. Recently his focus has been on how s
mall and large firms in emerging and developed markets alike are developin
g ingenious low cost solutions to address poverty and inequality. He is th
e co-author of Jugaad Innovation: Think Frugal\, Be Flexible\, Generate Br
eakthrough Growth\, which was described by the Economist as “the most co
mprehensive book yet” on the subject of frugal innovation.\n\nProf Prabh
u has recently returned from the European Maker Faire in Rome where he spo
ke about how ordinary people with limited resources are increasingly devel
oping and commercialising low cost solutions in the West. In a quote from
the Judge Business School earlier this month Jaideep said: “Frugal inno
vation is a major source of affordable and sustainable solutions to proble
ms of poverty\, inequality and resource constraint worldwide. New technolo
gies such as 3D printing\, smartphones and the Internet of Things\, as wel
l as movements like the Maker Movement and the Sharing Economy\, are drivi
ng the democratization of innovation everywhere." To read more about Jai
deep and Frugal Innovation please see the recent Frugal Innovation press r
elease.\n\n\nInnovation Forum: Our second speakers will be from the studen
t-led Innovation Forum\, a multi-campus organisation active in the Univers
ities of Cambridge\, Oxford and London and others. They seek to promote in
novation by linking innovative minds across academia\, industry and the pu
blic sector through workshops\, lectures and collaborations. Their next ev
ent will be the BioBeat14 in Cambridge on 23rd October.\n\n \n\nTo book: I
