DESCRIPTION:"The end is nigh"\, the Internet doomsayers say. There are onl
y so many IP addresses that can be allocated to devices\, and we have run
out! My talk will be on the solution to this problem: Internet Protocol Ve
rsion 6. I’ll start by clueing you up on what exactly Internet Protocol
is\, progressing to learning about the current version of the protocol\, I
 Pv4 and how IPv6 offers a significant improvement over IPv4. I’ll talk a
bout the transition between the two which is ongoing and fraught with diff
iculties at the moment. IPv6 is exciting in the fact that it connects us d
irectly and brings us closer to the Internet that was first envisioned. Th
ere are many challenges ahead for the Internet and IPv6 is at the heart of
  it.
