DESCRIPTION:We explore the chemistry of Lewis acids based on aluminium and
  phosphorus. Aluminium-bis(triflate) compounds\, when activated with Na[BA
 rCl4] (ArCl = 3\,5-Cl2-C6H3)\, showed remarkable activity with respect to 
 several Diel Alder transformations. We succeeded in crystallographic chara
 cterization one of these systems that was identified as a 2-D coordination
 al polymer. Our recent reports on a coordinatively saturated P(III)-center
 ed dication and its reactivity toward water and methanol were further expa
 nded with the unusual reactivity with pyridine N-oxide resulting in the P-
 C bond oxidation. Also\, we showed that these compounds are capable of C-F
  activation. Lastly\, according to DFT studies we stumbled upon a reaction
  that involved sterically induced P-N bond cleavage.
