DESCRIPTION:The successful completion of the long baselines testing has ma
 rked on major achievements of the ALMA observatory.  While the optimisatio
 n of the observatory is still ongoing\, most of the baseline modes are now
  ready for the external users.  ALMA has been running Early Science Operat
 ions since 2011 and is now transitioning into Full Science Operations\, th
 e first upgrades from the ALMA Development Programme are being installed a
 t the telescope.  I will review the current status of the observatory\, a 
 selection of the science results from the first three cycles of Early Scie
 nce\, focusing mostly on the early universe and planet formation areas\, a
 nd provide an outlook on the short and medium term scientific capabilities
 .  The longterm development program will also be presented.\n
