DESCRIPTION: I will present a proof of a conjecture of Wim Veys\, saying t
 hat minus\nthe log\ncanonical threshold of a hypersurface singularity is t
 he only possible pole of\nmaximal order of the Igusa zeta function of the 
 singularity. The proof uses\nrecent results from the MMP but has a natural
  interpretation in terms of\nnon-archimedean geometry (weight functions on
  Berkovich spaces). This is joint\nwork with Chenyang Xu.
