SUMMARY:Nanostructures for tuning of optical properties: Light and matter
wave applications - Martin Greve\, Department of Physics and Technology\,

DESCRIPTION:Research highlights of nanostructured devices fabricated mainl
y by the means of electron beam lithography at the Bergen NanoStructures L
aboratory (BNSL) are presented. The investigations of the optical properti
es of metal nanoparticles are shown for the ultimate goal of developing an
all metal solar cell. Also photonic crystals where small 2D photonic crys
tal arrays are made to work as if they were larger than their physical siz
e are discussed\, and finally our novel ‘atom-sieve’\, a freestanding
nanostructured diffractive element\, fabricated in SiNx\, which we use for
focusing a neutral beam of helium atoms\, is shown.
