DESCRIPTION:This presentation describes a body of practice-led research re
 lating to the development of technologies for gallery-focused fine artists
 .  It describes the critical models\, observational studies\, design proce
 sses\, and practical activities informing the creation of an exemplar soft
 ware-based artists’ tool.  This tool\, an application named Foamcore Mod
 elmaker\, provides a means of pre-visualising the various gallery spaces i
 n which artists might show their work\, both via on-screen representation\
 , and also through the export of dynamically generated kits aiding in the 
 creation of physical scale models.  A novel\, card-based means of design i
 deation\, developed in support of this research\, is described as well\, a
 nd is considered in regards to its applicability within non-artistic domai
 ns.
