DESCRIPTION:Forebrain functioning relies on complex circuits that begin to
be established in the embryo via an integrated choreography of neuronal m
igration and axonal navigation. Such developmental programs can be perturb
ed by activation of the immune system\, as illustrated by the fact that pr
enatal inflammation is a major risk factor for schizophrenia and autism sp
ectrum disorders. Here\, we will explore how neuronal migration and tract
formation are coordinated in vivo and how cells of the immune system\, mic
roglia\, contribute to normal and pathological forebrain wiring.
