DESCRIPTION:Fully autonomous hobbyist drones are typically controlled\nusi
ng bespoke microcontrollers\, or general purpose low-level\ncontrollers su
ch as the Arduino. However\, these devices\nonly have limited compute powe
r and sensing capabilities\,\nand do not easily provide cellular connectiv
ity options. We\npresent Captain Buzz\, an Android smartphone app capable\
nof piloting a delta wing glider autonomously. Captain Buzz\ncan control s
ervos directly via pulse width modulation signals\ntransmitted over the sm
artphone audio port. Compared\nwith traditional approaches to building an
autopilot\, Captain\nBuzz allows users to leverage existing Android librar
ies for\nflight control and innovative use-cases\, reprogram their autopil
ot\nmidflight for rapid prototyping\, and reduces costs of\nbuilding drone
