SUMMARY:On the characterisation of shock-induced sliding along multi-mater
ial interfaces - Mark Collinson\, Institute of Shock Physics\, Imperial Co
 llege\, London

DESCRIPTION:The high strain-rate behaviour of multi-component systems is o
ften dominated by mediation at material interfaces. Towards further under
standing the role of these\, results will be presented from a series of pl
ate impact experiments focussed on spatially resolved measurements across
aluminium - stainless steel interfaces. The dynamic response at both the
initiation of sliding and over extended timescales will be considered\, ut
ilising a line-VISAR diagnostic and metallographic techniques respectively
