DESCRIPTION:One useful technique for solving Einstein's equations in four 
 dimensions is to search for solutions that have an algebraically special W
 eyl tensor\, a concept that can be suitably extended to higher dimensions.
  I will review the main results regarding algebraically special solutions 
 in dimension greater than four\, discussing in particular the five-dimensi
 onal case.
