DESCRIPTION:INSPIRED is an outreach program for patients and families livi
 ng with advanced COPD. It was modelled on the Cambridge Breathlessness Int
 ervention Service (BIS): a community-functioning secondary care service de
 veloped and evaluated in a collaboration between the Department of Public 
 Health & Primary Care (Dr Morag Farquhar) and the CUHNFT Palliative Care T
 eam (Dr Sara Booth) using the MRC framework for complex interventions. \n\
 nINSPIRED began in Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, and is now being rolled out in 
 19 pilot sites across Canada supported by a federally funded quality impro
 vement collaborative.\n\nProfessor Graeme Rocker\n\nDr Rocker is Professor
  of Medicine at Dalhousie University and recently Head\, Division of Respi
 rology at Capital Health in Halifax\, Nova Scotia. Beyond his medical degr
 ee he holds an Oxford University Doctorate for research into the Adult Res
 piratory Distress Syndrome and a Masters degree in Bioethics from the Univ
 ersity of Toronto. He received the 2009 Roger Bone Award from the American
  College of Chest physicians for advances in end-of-life care.  He leads t
 he INSPIRED COPD outreach program for patients and families living with ad
 vanced COPD. In 2013 Dr Rocker was appointed Clinical Improvement Advisor 
 to the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement.
