DESCRIPTION:In pervasive computing environments\, communicating devices ar
e often resource-constrained\, and bandwidth and connectivity may be limit
ed as well. Bootstrapping key agreement via human-memorable passwords offe
rs clear user-friendliness. Identity-based cryptography (IBC)\, first intr
oduced by Shamir in 1984\, and made practical by schemes proposed by Boneh
and Franklin in 2001\, offers certificateless operation. In this talk\, w
e motivate the problem of inter-domain key agreement\, and present a solut
ion which combines passwords and IBC\, conferring advantages such as being
lightweight and PKI-free at the client side. We will also provide heurist
ic analysis of the protocol's security.
