DESCRIPTION:The goal of the research was to produce software which will ma
ke stochastic six degree of freedom simulations of flight path and recover
y of small\, passively controlled\, high power rockets. The software can b
e used to model a single rocket trajectory or run using the Monte Carlo me
thod while perturbing uncertain input variables\, which include the aerody
namic coefficients of the rocket and the wind profile data. The latter met
hod results in a splashdown pattern marking the rockets probable landing z
one. This information may allow researchers to fly passively controlled ro
ckets to higher altitudes in more populous areas more safely. The presenta
tion gives an in depth description of the workings of the software and the
theory behind it as well as presenting results of validation using real f
 lights.
