DESCRIPTION:Computer-generated music has been a point of discussion for ma
ny years now. When creating music in this way\, it’s important to addres
s what the goal is. Are we trying to produce music that is the most techni
cally accurate it can be? Or are we looking to create something that is ae
sthetically accomplished to the listener’s ears? I will compare two appr
oaches to solving this problem\; a neural network and a genetic algorithm.
Discussion will include the respective benefits and pitfalls of each meth
od as well as an introduction to 4-part harmony in the style of J. S. Bach
 .
