DESCRIPTION:The field of compositional distributional semantics aims to de
 velop methods for obtaining meaning representations of sentences by starti
 ng from distributional representations of words\, and combining them in a 
 syntax aware fashion. Categorical compositional distributional semantics p
 rovides such a framework inspired by the mathematics of quantum mechanics.
  \n\nMost of the work on compositional distributional semantics has so far
  focused on evaluating the similarity between two sentences. In this talk\
 , I will discuss some theory and experiments on a different task: entailme
 nt. Quantum mechanics provides objects that are suitable for characterizin
 g both distributional information and vagueness. I will present these obje
 cts\, the geometric intuition behind them\, how they can represent entailm
 ent relations between words\, and how they fit in the categorical composit
 ional distributional framework to provide entailment relations between sen
 tences.
