DESCRIPTION:Traditionally urban planning\, urban design and other built en
vironment disciplines have based their processes and outcomes on quantitat
ive data. In the past few decades\, qualitative approaches have also risen
as valuable. However\, theorists\, philosophers and practitioners have la
rgely questioned both methodologies\, highlighting their pros and cons. No
wadays\, mainstream planning and urban design continue to use quantitative
  methodologies\, sometimes dismissing qualitative approaches.\n\n \n\nUnde
rstanding the value of qualitative methodology\, this talk focuses on the
link between qualitative approaches and some theoretical and practical out
comes. Through a research example\, I will discuss the concept of territor
ial transferal process\, which arose from in-depth interviews\, and its po
tential application in urban planning and design.\n\n\n\nBiography:\n\n\nA
