DESCRIPTION:Microfluidics is regarded as an attractive technology for (bio
)chemical analyses as it opens up the possibility to rapidly perform preci
sely-controlled high-throughput analyses while consuming only miniature am
ounts of samples. As part of my PhD I am developing microfluidic devices t
o quantitatively characterise proteins in their native liquid phase. I wil
l demonstrate our recently published platform for diffusional sizing of pr
oteins (Patent No. EP2912455 A1) as well as our developments in microfluid
ic approaches to determine the charges of biological molecules in liquid p
hase and compare their performance to existing technologies. I will furthe
r demonstrate how microfluidic devices can be used to probe protein-protei
n interactions in liquid phase as well as to perform high throughput autom
 ated protein aggregation assays.
