DESCRIPTION:The migration of melt over length scales of hundreds of kms ta
kes place through grain edge tubules and films with typical dimensions of
a few hundred nanometers to a few microns. The volume fraction\, shape\, a
nd distribution of these tubules and films exert a strong influence on the
effective physical properties\, anisotropy\, and the trajectory of melt m
igration in the mantle. In this talk\, I will outline new techniques for m
odeling the microstructure in partially molten rocks\,their influence on t
he effective physical properties\, and the implications for large scale ma
 gma flow.
