DESCRIPTION:Topological Computer Vision is a new research area within Topo
 logical\nData Analysis on the interface between algebraic topology and\nco
 mputational geometry. The flagship method of persistent homology\nquantifi
 es topological structures hidden in unorganized data across\nall scales. T
 he talk will review recent applications to Computer\nVision including auto
 -completion of contours\, parameterless\nskeletonisation and superpixel se
 gmentation of images. The superpixel\nalgorithm speeds-up higher level ima
 ge processing up to 4 orders of\nmagnitude\, hence many computer vision ta
 sks can be solved in real\ntime. The last work is the on-going project wit
 h Microsoft Research\nCambridge and is funded by the EPSRC Impact Accelera
 tion Account\nthrough a Knowledge Transfer Secondment. The talk is based o
 n author's\npapers in Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (2014)\, Com
 puter\nGraphics Forum (2015)\, Pattern Recognition Letters (2016). All pap
 ers\nand C++ code are at http://kurlin.org.
