DESCRIPTION:The physiological mechanisms through which our decisions are t
urned into actions still remain largely undetermined. I will present some
ongoing (and preliminary) work that leverages our recent advances in high-
precision MEG (hpMEG) and promises to shed new light on this problem. I wi
ll focus briefly on the approach we employ for hpMEG\, and show that this
in principle allows for reliable assessment of deep (thalamic and BG) sour
ces – a key requirement for fully understanding decision to action trans
formations. I will then present data showing how high and low frequency os
cillations map onto deep and superficial cortical laminae during simple se
nsorimotor decisions\, and furthermore scale with the degree of expectatio
 n about the forthcoming action.
