DESCRIPTION:Although General Relativity (GR) has passed all tests so far w
ith flying colors\, the most recent of which being GW150914 in the strong-
field\, dynamical regime\, a full theory combining GR with quantum field t
heory is still amiss.\nGuided by more fundamental candidate theories of qu
antum gravity\, one possible extension of GR are so-called quadratic gravi
ty models. In this talk I will focus on Einstein-dilaton Gauss-Bonnet grav
ity and\, specifically\, discuss properties of compact objects and black-h
ole formation processes in this theory.
