DESCRIPTION:I use stochastic coupled cluster techniques to gain a better u
nderstanding of electronic processes\nin solids. Coupled cluster can give
very accurate energies in systems where many electrons interact\nwith each
other (it is able to give ”chemical accuracy”). Coupled cluster can b
e made as accurate but\nexpensive as desired by including more excitations
from the reference Slater determinant directly.\nI refer to these differe
nt levels of accuracy as ”truncation levels”.\nBefore I will eventuall
y consider realistic solids\, I have studied two model solid system so far
\,\nthe uniform electron gas and the Hubbard model. These studies indicate
how truncation levels of\ncoupled cluster perform with varying strength o
f electron correlation in solid systems.\nIn the talk I will focus on the
uniform electron gas and present stochastic coupled cluster results\nat di
fferent truncation levels and correlation to determine the required trunca
tion levels. I will also\ndiscuss the calculation performance with more tr
 uncation levels and correlation.
