DESCRIPTION:Julie Smith is a Liberal Democrat politician and a Senior Lect
 urer in International Relations at the University of Cambridge. From 2003 
 to 2015\, she was a local councillor on Cambridge City Council. Since Sept
 ember 2014\, she has been a life peer and a member of the House of Lords.\
 n\nThis event is part of the Madingley Conversations series of talks on 'T
 he Future of Lifelong Learning'. It takes place at Madingley Hall\, home o
 f the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) – 
 a pioneering centre for personal enrichment and professional development c
