DESCRIPTION:With the aging of our population and the decrease in deaths fr
om acute illnesses at young or middle-age\, more people suffer from chroni
c illnesses such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). COPD is
not only characterized by progressive airflow limitation but often accompa
nied by various systemic manifestations including cardiovascular disease\,
skeletal muscle wasting and cachexia. Therefore\, to identify the most vu
lnerable patients with COPD\, a less organ-specific concept like frailty i
s necessary to describe the generalized functional loss of physical abilit
ies and prognosis of patients with COPD.
