DESCRIPTION:The Nigerian Montane Forest Project (NMFP) is a conservation a
nd biodiversity research program founded on a field station located on the
Nigerian- Cameroon border. Run out of the University of Canterbury\, New
Zealand\, the Project is aimed at understanding the ecology of Nigeria's m
ontane forest fragments for informed management of this fragile ecosystem.
The research focus is predominantly plant-animal mutualisms and forest re
storation. This talk will introduce the NMFP and present research aimed at
understanding how seed dispersal processes are changing in response to fo
rest fragmentation and hunting. If you want to meet with Hazel Chapman dur
ing her visit\, please contact Sonia Pascoal.
