DESCRIPTION:I will give an overview of the concept of symmetry in Einstein
  gravity ranging from very known to less known types of symmetry. I will s
 how how these symmetries are the hint of a deeper structure which depends 
 on the context but also has universal aspects. I will discuss in particula
 r asymptotic BMS symmetry\, conformal symmetry and the newer concept of sy
 mplectic symmetry. I will finally show how conformal symmetry controls phy
 sical phenomena in the vicinity of extremal Kerr black holes.
