DESCRIPTION:The article presents reflections on teacher education for musi
 c education in Brazil\, on the perspective of sustainable development. Qua
 lity education courses in music education must optimize their own developm
 ent in terms of the pillars of socio-political\, economic\, and environmen
 tal sustainability. The training of teachers in music education courses mu
 st also optimize the sustainability of the educators for their professiona
 l practice. Analysis and perspectives related to the education courses for
  music teachers are presented aiming to strengthen them and provide a cont
 inued qualification always better for music teachers in the country.\n\nDr
  Alda Oliveira from Brazil is a Housewright Eminent Scholar at Florida Sta
 te University and a ISME Honorary Life Member.  Dr. Oliveira is a music ed
 ucator\, composer and pianist\, music curricula consultant and president o
 f SONARE www.sonare.com.br . She organized the creation of the Brazilian M
 usic Education Association – ABEM (1991).  Author of the book The PONTES
  Approach to Music Education: Learning to Articulate (2015). She was presi
 dent of ISME Research Commission\, ISME Board member\, Visiting Researcher
  (2013-2014\, Eliot-Pearson Child Development Center at Tufts University\,
 USA)\, Director of the School of Music (1992-1996\, UFBA)\, Director of th
 e Pracatum Vocational School for Musicians\, twice president of ABEM\, pre
 sident of CEEARTES/SESU/MEC and member of the BJME International Advisory 
 Board.\n
