DESCRIPTION:The availability of population-scale genomic data sets linked
to biomedical data is transforming many areas of research. However\, the
statistical and computational challenges of organising\, analysing and int
erpreting such information are substantial. Using examples from humans an
d their pathogens\, I will discuss how new approaches to the analysis of g
enomic and phenotypic data can provide insight into processes ranging from
the aetiology of autoimmune diseases to the origin and spread of drug res
 istance.
