DESCRIPTION:Over the last 5 years\, I have been working to build and deplo
y context-aware mobile applications\, based on sensor data from personal m
obile & wearable devices. In this talk\, I will detail two key themes of m
y research. First\, I will describe work on wearable analytics that uses s
ensor data from personal wearable devices (e.g.\, smartwatches) and cheap
IoT platforms to capture fine-grained insights on daily lifestyle activiti
 es\, such as in-store shopping & eating. Next\, I shall describe research
insights driven by real-world deployments of context-aware mobile crowdsou
rcing\, both on campus and across the city\, where a large pool of partici
patory individuals perform a variety of location-specific tasks. Finally\,
I shall briefly describe recently-initiated work on socio-physical analyt
ics that fuses physical sensing of urban resources (such as buses\, taxis
and parking garages) with social media sensing to support fine-grained cha
 racterization of urban events.
