 ssets\, logistics and expertise. It engages traditionally separate industr
 ies and other organisations in a collective approach to competitive advant
 age involving physical exchange of materials\, energy\, water and/or by-pr
 oducts together with the shared use of assets\, logistics and expertise. P
 eter Laybourn is the creator of NISP\, which is currently the only Industr
 ial Symbiosis programme anywhere in the world which is operating on a nati
 onal basis. He was originally inspired to create NISP after hearing about 
 by-product synergy programmes operating in the Gulf of Mexico.
